Hi friends!
Welcome here. After long procrastination, I finally started my first public newsletter. EXCITING!
Why is Kathy starting a newsletter?
I enjoy reading books and I love writing. For those who may not know, writing is a regular habit for me since many many years ago. I am the most honest to myself when I write. However, I only wrote to myself. That’s right, for the past years, my writings are quietly lying in a secret space of my computer. For a long time, I was too defensive. I am always too shy to share my thoughts and opinions on the Internet. I am not ready to put myself on the stage. I am too afraid that people would laugh at me, disrespect me. I keep my writings as a secret to myself and live in the shell of those dusty files.
Now it’s time to change. I wasn’t unwilling to share, I just need to overcome the fears. What if I do write something good? What if I do provide interesting perspectives? What if I do bring people ideas? Nobody builds credibility and authority in a day. I shouldn’t wait anymore. So, here it is - my first newsletter.
I sincerely hope people who read my writings can understand what I am made of from a deeper level, not limited by my appearance, my age, and my occupation.
Hello World! People can hear my voice from now on.
What to expect?
I plan to publish new letters on a roughly bi-weekly basis. I might get too busy with life in the future but that is the plan for now. We’ll see how it goes. I also highly encourage people to comment below my posts or directly email me for any thoughts and feedback. For friends in real life, feel free to discuss anything in my writings. I am happy to hear what people think.
It’s my first time trying and English is not my first language. Though I might make awkward sentences by misuse of the language, I promise to share an authentic self and genuine thoughts.
Will I have content in Chinese in the future? For Chinese readers, I am sorry that I only post letters in English at this moment. If I get enough Chinese subscribers, I might consider opening another newsletter in Chinese. In fact, I started a personal blog 2 years ago, mainly in Chinese. As a software engineer, I developed the whole back end and front end myself. That blog is still around, published under my github.io. If you by chance see it, I hope you like it.
Stay tuned my friends. The next newsletter is on its way.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
